Remedy The action or award that represents the resolution of a problem, or that rights a wrong.
Reply A plaintiff's response to a defendant's plea or counterclaim.
Residence The location where a person currently lives and intends to keep on living.
Residuary Estate The estate that remains after a deceased person's debts and obligations have been paid from it.
Respondent A person or party who responds as defendant in a civil suit, divorce proceeding, juvenile court, or other proceeding.
Restitution A remedy in contract law where the person held responsible for a breach of contract pays the other party the money they would have received if the contract was performed.
Restraining Order a judicial order stopping a person or company for performing specific acts.
Retainer the fee paid in advance to an attorney for his or her services.
